About the course
The Omaha Fire Department’s Youth Fire Intervention Program, in partnership with Omaha Project Harmony Child Advocacy Center, provides a trauma-informed, holistic response for youth involved in fire-setting behavior and their families. Following a fire-setting incident, our team conducts early intervention through education, standardized risk assessment, and safety planning, while Project Harmony offers forensic interviews, family advocacy, and access to mental health services. This collaborative approach addresses both the fire safety risks and the underlying emotional, social, or behavioral factors contributing to the incident. By combining fire service expertise with child advocacy resources, we guide families toward recovery, reduce the likelihood of repeat incidents, and strengthen community safety through coordinated care.
